  3. Congenital Conditions and Spinal Injuries: Some individuals are born with a naturally narrow spinal canal (congenital spinal stenosis). Additionally, spinal injuries from accidents or trauma can cause dislocations or fractures that narrow the canal (Genevay & Atlas, 2010).
